Sydney & Suman
Capri, Italy
June 18 - 20, 2026

Our Story
Like all great love stories, Sydney and Suman's began in the most romantic of places: Goldman Sachs. It was the summer of 2017, and they were just two ambitious interns from the Midwest trying to find their footing in New York City.

They were fast friends, and the summer was filled with midday coffee walks, late work nights, and the occasional trip to the intern bars (you know, the ones that didn't look too hard at Suman's ID). If it were up to Suman, they would've started dating right then and there, but for now, he was happy being just friends with the cute girl from the office.

Senior year took them back to their respective Big Ten schools — Sydney to Michigan and Suman to Illinois — but it was only a matter of time before these two were back in the city.

The real hero of this story? Their first staffer at Goldman. He was in charge of the analyst seating chart, and as fate would have it, he placed these two right across from each other (Suman must have slipped him a $20).

From then on, Suman's daily routine looked something like this: morning coffee, put in work at the office, put in work with Sydney, repeat — six days a week / 16 hours a day.

Still, they stayed just friends for a while (though their coworkers had running bets on when that status would change).

They made countless late-night trips to their favorite FiDi dive bar — conveniently never inviting another coworker — ordering vodka sodas and splitting an order of cheese fries like clockwork. Finally, after enough "one more drink" moments that ended with shutting down the bar on random Tuesday nights, even Sydney started to realize that this was no ordinary work friendship.

By 2019, after a year of pretending otherwise, they were officially dating — making every Goldman happy hour just a little bit more interesting.

Then came 2020. In classic Suman and Sydney fashion, they were in Costa Rica celebrating new jobs when the world was shutting down. Naturally, as only these two would, they made lemonade out of lemons and extended their trip while the rest of the world was making a beeline for the airport. Luckily, they still made it out just hours before the borders closed.

Since that first trip to Costa Rica, Syd and Suman have traveled everywhere together. Fortunately, they've been able to trade seats in the back of the plane and Costa Rican hostels for just a little bit more luxury in recent years.

In the summer of 2024, they got engaged at the Rosewood Mayakoba, and later that summer, they traveled back to Capri and started planning their dream destination wedding.

They now live together on Mulberry Street in an apartment that is far too small for how many computer monitors it has to hold. They're still mildly obsessed with work, have become a bit too particular about restaurants, and are very much in love.

They've since traded vodka sodas and cheese fries for oysters and dirty martinis — but they'd go back for the fries any day.
